I am so excited that you have joined me on my very first blog post!  I stumbled upon the blogging world in 2007 and have been hooked since. A lot has transpired in the past 10 years but what remained constant is my passion for interior design, mentoring and desire to own a blog!

I peruse the blog-sphere, Pinterest, HGTV and Houzz more than most because I LOVE homes. Like others, I hit the jackpot when Pinterest was launched because it saved me from buying tons of USB. Back in 2007, the easiest and cheapest way to store my ever-growing inspiration collection without slowing my computer’s speed was through the use of USB’s. I know, old school! We’ve come a long way with more than technology and the hustle and bustle of every day is as high as ever. I believe that this forces us all the more to create a retreat in our homes. After all, that is where we re-energize, build dreams and make memories.

Today I ‘d like to share 4 simple ways to transition your home from winter to spring on a budget.

1: Incorporate some greenery

A quick way of welcoming spring into your home is by adding flowers to your decor. I like mixing real and faux, not only to cut down on costs but also have a longer period of prettiness around the house.

To me, nothing says spring like tulips and apple blossom branches. Peonies and lilac are a very close second:)

Another way of adding greenery to your decor is through plants. I swear by them and have a ridiculous number throughout our home. They add life to any room, give an assist in breathing and are a natural air purifier.  Can it get better than that?

Notice that new new leaf sprouting? It is the little thing that gets my household excited:)

2: Change your textiles

To let the light in, consider replacing heavy curtains and throws that shielded your home from the cold for lighter ones. Swap out dark colored linens and throw pillows with lighter ones to welcome the fresh and airy feeling of spring into your home.

3: Add a splash of color through accessories

Once the winter has passed, it is time to embrace lighter and brighter colors again. To achieve this on a budget, put your colorful books and accessories such as trays, vases, bowls on display.

4: Add fresh scents through candles, hand soap, diffusers etc….

I am so glad to have picked up this candle from Bath and Body works during my winter haul. It smells heavenly and gets me excited about all the flowers growing in our garden.

Changing your decor to match the feelings of a new season should neither be difficult nor break the bank. With some creativity and flexibility, you can transition any room from cozy to airy and breezy.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing this mini tour of my home and found these tips simple enough to incorporate into your own home this spring. Before you go, i would love for you to share how you inject spring into your home in the comment section. Thanks again for stopping by on my first post and i look forward to having you back!

A bientot, Victoria.
